Pap Smear Package
A Pap smear, also known as a Pap test or Papanicolaou test, is a procedure that examines cells from the cervix for cervical cancer or precancerous cells.
What it does:
- Detects abnormal cell growth and the human papillomavirus (HPV).
- Can help find other conditions, like infections or inflammation.
How it’s done:
- A doctor or nurse uses a small brush to collect cells from the cervix.
- The cells are examined under a microscope.
When it’s done:
- Usually done during a pelvic exam.
- Can be done at a doctor’s office, clinic, or nurse’s office.
